A 2020 Blindspot
1 Cor. 8:1-13
- Happy New Year!
- Conflicts at Corinth
- Paul is informed about the Nature of the Conflicts (1 Corinthians 1:10-12)
- Paul goes to the Heart of the Conflicts (1 Corinthians 8:1-13)
- “We know that we all have ‘knowledge.’” (8:1a)
- What kind of ‘knowledge’?
- “’Knowledge’ makes arrogant/puffs up, but love edifies” (8:1b)
- When you major on your “knowledge”, personal rights and liberty, love becomes a blindspot and the Body is torn apart.
- 2 ways the one with ‘knowledge’ is blind (that is, they don’t fully know as they ought to know v.2)
- Blind to the ruin of brothers & sisters for whose sake Christ died
- Blind to personal danger
- When you major on self-sacrificial, agape love, your eyes are opened so you can humbly pursue truth and exercise your freedoms and rights to build up the Body.

- “Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat again...”! (v.13)
